The MPV Education Initiative present seminars and workshops for journalists on peace journalism, media literacy for journalists, peacebuilding and the media, etc. The lead trainer and organizer of these projects is Steven Youngblood, MPV’s Director of Education, who has organized and taught workshops for journalists in 43 countries.

Recent and upcoming programs


Making Peace Visible's educational activities got underway with the participation of director Steven Youngblood at the Transatlantic Dialogue conference in Luxembourg in June. He made a presentation about how peace journalism can be a tool for building bridges, and also participated in a roundtable discussion. Reconciling a Troubled Past with Reporters from Kosovo and Northern Ireland

Making Peace Visible's educational activities will continue in August with a special project for reporters in Kosovo and Northern Ireland. The theme will be reporting about a troubled past and memorialization, and feature exchanges between journalists in both regions. Steven Youngblood is the project's director and lead instructor.

Peacebuilding for Journalists Seminar, Fall 2024

The MPV Seminar “Peacebuilding for Journalists” will be held in late 2024. The seminar will examine how peace and peacebuilders are reflected in the media, provide an overview of peace journalism, discuss peace journalism and its desirability (and viability), analyze the impact of traditional journalism on the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, and connect journalists to content experts in the peacebuilding field. Stay tuned for details!
