Our Core Principles

  • Collaboration

Collaboration begins with dialogue across boundaries. In turn, this collaboration lays a foundation for the consensus necessary for peacebuilding.

  • Equality and dignity

We believe that all human lives hold equal value and that dignity is the birthright of every human being. We also recognize that media too often privileges the voices of those in power. This is why we seek to uplift and amplify the voices of those who have been traditionally marginalized.

  • Independence

We do not advocate for any policies or legislation beyond freedom of the press and First Amendment rights.

  • Nonviolence

We’re committed to promoting the use of nonviolent means to manage and resolve conflicts. In our work, we amplify the voices of advocates for nonviolence.

  • Nuance

The truth is not black and white. We seek out narratives that embrace complexity and provide depth and context.

  • Representation

We commit to ensuring a diversity of voices are heard on the Making Peace Visible podcast, in our publications, such as NUANCE and The Peace Journalist Magazine, and in live events.

We strive to reflect diversity in our initiatives by considering race, national origin, geographic location, sexual orientation, gender, religion, and point-of-view.
