Film has a crucial role to play…
Documentary films have a special role to play in telling stories about peace efforts. Peace stories are complex, they usually happen over long periods of time, and they have their own unique kind of drama. Whereas news reports typically only cover pieces of these complex stories, documentaries have room to tell the whole story, to communicate nuance, to illuminate the emotional realities of conflict resolution, and to introduce a more diverse group of actors, including everyday people. These details matter. In a world that prioritizes conflict in the news media far more than peace, it is essential that these stories have a prominent platform.
